This will be the sixth time Canadian Brass has performed as a part of the Harriman-Jewell Series. The program will include traditional holiday favorites and works by Holborne, Praetorius, Bach, Schumann, and more.

Organist Douglas Reed will join the brass quintet’s holiday program to play the Julia Irene Kauffman Casavant Organ. Canadian Brass horn player, Eric Reed, said “When the opportunity came up to play a holiday concert in Kansas City, and the request had been made to bring our own organist, I told the rest of the Brass that I knew a guy. After a unanimous decision, I gave my dad a call and invited him to join us.”

In addition, the William Jewell College Concert Choir will join the Brass for a few songs, under the direction of Dr. Anthony Maglione. “At William Jewell, we’ve always told our students to ‘live what they learn.’ Collaboration with musicians of this caliber is a real-world application of their skills and is a hallmark of our brand of education,” stated Maglione.

Tremendous brass musicians, each a virtuoso in his own right, form the legendary Canadian Brass. With an international reputation as one of the most popular brass ensembles today, Canadian Brass has truly earned the distinction of “the world’s most famous brass group.”

Canadian Brass is made up of five extraordinary talents: visionary founder, tuba legend and business specialist Chuck Daellenbach plus four of the next generation’s top brass stars—Caleb Hudson and Christopher Coletti (trumpets), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (trombone) and Eric Reed (horn). Beyond their unbelievable technical skills and musicality, each player possesses the creativity, good humor and genuine love of performing that has become the hallmark of Canadian Brass.

The Washington Post has written that “These are the men who put brass music on the map: with their unbeatable blend of virtuosity, spontaneity and humor, they brighten the rosters of concert halls, international festivals and orchestra series throughout the world.”
