Reflections: on hope
San Diego, California
Tuesday, 26 November 2013 - 7:00 PM
Presenter: Art of Élan
Ensemble: Sacra/Profana
7PM on November 26th, 2013

The uplifting power of hope has sustained humankind throughout our history and with this program Art of Élan explores the various realms of faith and belief from which hope stems. The glowing worlds of Michael Gandolfi's Winter Light, a journey for choir and strings based on poetry of Amy Lowell, and John Tavener's haunting Song of the Angel (written for the 50th anniversary of the United Nations) may seem at odds with Omaramor, Osvaldo Golijov's bustling solo cello tribute to tango legend Carlos Gardel. Yet hope and belief are drawn from all around, as we are reminded in Kevin Puts' Credo for string quartet, when seemingly ordinary acts become life's most profound moments.

*All shows start at 7pm and are followed by Happy Hour at The Prado.
