NEC Symphony + Demirjian
Boston, Massachusetts
Wednesday, 11 April 2018 - 7:30 PM
Ensemble: NEC Symphony
Conductor: Aram Demirjian
One of the first graduates of NEC's conducting program under Hugh Wolff's direction, Aram Demirjian returns to lead a centuries-spanning program.

While the title of Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances is self-explanatory, Mason Bates's The Mothership has also recently been choreographed by Nicolas Blanc for New York City Ballet, to great acclaim. The Mothership score is a large-scale work for orchestra and electronica that was commissioned by the YouTube Symphony Orchestra and was viewed online by more than two million people during its premiere in 2011. The program will also include a concerto for a wind instrument, with student soloist.

Welcome to NEC at 150! We are committed not only to exploring and interpreting traditions, but also to expanding boundaries. We support and nurture exceptional talent and imaginative creativity, and welcome back some of the groundbreaking musicians who have studied here to share their music and ideas with us this season.
