Biography
Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909) was a Spanish composer and pianist. A child prodigy, he began to perform at the age of four, passed the entrance exam for the Paris Conservatoire (but was refused admission for being too young), and had toured the world by age 15.

His works, mostly for piano, exhibit an idiomatic Spanish nationalism, often being guitar-like in timbre.  In fact, much of Suite Española, Op. 47 (including the fifth movement Asturias [Leyenda]), has become part of the standard classical guitar repertoire in transcription form.  He is best known for Iberia, a set of 12 "impressions" for piano.
