Biography
Violinist David Chan is the Concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and an active soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Mr. Chan made his Carnegie Hall debut during the 2002-03 season, performing the Brahms' Double Concerto with cellist Rafael Figueroa and the Met Orchestra under the baton of James Levine. A top prize winner at the Tchaikovsky and Indianapolis international violin competitions, he has appeared as soloist with such orchestras as the Moscow State Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Indianapolis Symphony. A native of San Diego, Mr. Chan's principal teachers were Dorothy DeLay, Hyo Kang and Michael Tseitlin. He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University and his master's degree from the Juilliard School.
