Lisa Ji Eun Kim, from San Diego, is starting her first season with the Houston Symphony. Prior to joining the symphony, she performed with New World Symphony from 2013 to 2016.  Ms. Kim received her Bachelors and Masters degree from the Juilliard School where she studied under Hyo Kang and David Chan. While at Juilliard, she placed 2nd in its Bartok Concerto No.2 competition in 2013. Ms. Kim has participated in various festivals such as Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music Festival, Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and Verbier Festival where she was under the mentorship of Paul Kantor, Robert Mcduffie, Ruggiero Ricci, Robert Lipsett, and Abram Shtern. She has performed with various orchestras including Boston Symphony Orchestra. In the past, she has performed as a soloist with the San Diego Symphony, Grossmont Symphony, the Saratoga Symphony, the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, the San Diego Youth Symphony, the San Diego Youth Philharmonia, and the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. In her most recent chamber music concert at New World Center, she was hailed by South Florida Classical Review for her “ violin cutting through with a distinctive edge”.
