Biography
The London Philharmonic Orchestra is recognised as one of the world's great orchestras. It was formed in 1932 by Sir Thomas Beecham, the ensemble's first Principal Conductor. He was succeeded by a number of great musicians including Sir Adrian Boult, Bernard Haitink, Sir Georg Solti, Klaus Tennstedt and Kurt Masur, and Vladimir Jurowski, who became Principal Conductor in 2007. The Orchestra welcomed Yannick Nézet-Séguin as its Principal Guest conductor in 2008.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra is the only symphony orchestra in the UK to combine an annual subscription concert season with regular work in the opera house - resident at both the Royal Festival Hall and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. The Orchestra also performs regularly in the nearby south coast towns of Brighton and Eastbourne.

One of the most recorded orchestras in the world, in 2005 it set up its own label - LPO Label - releasing live concert recordings from recent seasons and the archive as well as studio recordings.
