Bach
Collegium San Diego (BCSD) engages audiences with accessible, historically
informed performances and educational programs featuring repertoire from the
Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical eras. Founded in 2003 to diversify
the musical offerings in the San Diego community, BCSD was founded by Ruben
Valenzuela, who remains at the helm as BCSD’s Music Director. During its
thirteen seasons, BCSD has presented a wide variety of historically significant
works, including many San Diego premieres. Works are performed using the
instrumentation and techniques of the period in which they were written. BCSD
engages the country’s finest early musicians, bringing world-class
historically-informed performance to the greater San Diego area through ten
mainstage concerts and six admission-free lunchtime performances. Through its
excellent programming and exemplary performances, BCSD is considered one of the
premier early music ensembles on the West Coast and is quickly becoming known
as one of the foremost ensembles to watch in the United States.
