Biography

Oboist Richard Kravchak has been heard as a soloist, chamber andorchestral musician throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, in both jazz andclassical idioms, performing on all of the major woodwind instruments. He hasappeared as a soloist with ensembles as diverse as The Dubuque Symphony, TheUniversity of Hawaii Wind Ensemble, The Carson Symphony, Banda Espinia dePortugal and the Orquesta Symphonica de El Salvador. The Dubuque TelegraphHerald has written “Kravchak's playing revealed a real beauty of tone, notmonolithic, but always changing in color and intensity. He makes even the mostdifficult lines seem almost effortless.” The Florida Flambeau raves "Kravchak made a good case for hisvirtuosity.” Dr. Kravchak has been invited to present solo performances atconferences and festivals including The International Double Reed Society, TheNorth Amercian Saxophone Alliance, Festival Forfest, the IntertnationalClarinet Society, and many others. He holds performance degrees from theEastman School of Music, the Juilliard School, and Florida State University.Dr. Kravchak is currently Professor of Music at California State University,Dominguez Hills, where he chairs the music department, leads the music education area, and serves as a studio woodwind instructor.
