Founded in 1982, the San Antonio Brass has been performing dynamic and diverse brass literature,educating young brass musicians and contributing to the cultural life of San Antonio, Bexar County and the State of Texas for more than twenty-five years.


Comprised of members from the San Antonio Symphony and the areas finest University instructors, theSAB is the premier professional brass ensemble in south Texas. With performances ranging from theTexas Music Educator’s Convention and world premier compositions to collaborations with the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio, the Cactus Pear MusicFestival and the Jim Cullum Jazz Ensemble the SA Brass has been striving to engage and challenge audiences both young and old.


As a 501(c) 3 not for profit organization, the SAB has maintained a constant mission to serve the San Antonio community through free educational programs and community performances.


 In 1993 the ensemble produced its first recording project, “The San Antonio Brass Christmas Album”; more recent projects include the Brass Ensemble Summer Training (B.E.S.T.), Brass in the Class and the San Antonio Brass Camp at St.Mary’s University all designed to bring together young musicians and professionals to learn and perform side-by-side.


The SA Brass Quintet performs a series of three concerts each season in San Antonio, Boerne and Kerrville, Texas. Members of the quintet include ; John Carroll and Andrew Gignac, trumpet; William Wiegard, horn; Amanda Davidson, trombone and Lee Hipp, tuba.
