Anthony Burr received his D.M.A. in Contemporary Music Performance
from UCSD in 2004. He is known internationally as one of the leading
interpreters of contemporary music for clarinet, having performed as solo-
ist for many leading institutions including the Chamber Music Society of
Lincoln Center, The Ensemble Sospeso (New York), The Munich Biennale,
and Elision (Australia). He has collaborated with many leading artists
including Laurie Anderson, Alvin Lucier, and MacArthur Fellow John Zorn,
and has created a series of live film/music performances with experimental
filmmaker Jennifer Reeves. As a composer, he has specialized in the creation
of epic scale mixed media pieces, most notably Biospheria: An Environmen-
tal Opera.
