Baritone Michael Blinco comes from a family rich in musical tradition. Taking piano and French horn at a young age it was apparent that his home would be on the stage. His love for music eventually evolved into a realization that the expression of words through singing was his true calling.

Michael attended Chapman Conservatory where, under the watchful eye of famed Soprano Carol Neblett, he developed a strong sense of character and musicality. He also worked with acclaimed conductor Dr. William D. Hall in honing his choral skills in both conducting and oratorio solo performance.

While at Chapman Conservatory he was given the special opportunity to perform early and often. OperaChapman kept him busy on stage as Sarastro in
Die Zauberflote , Sid in Albert Herring , Simone in Gianni Schicchi and the title role in Pasatieri’s Marriage of Figaro-esque production Signor Deluso . He was  privileged to perform with the Chapman Choir and Chamber Orchestra as the Baritone soloist in Britten’s Cantata Misericordium at the ACDA National Convention at Knight Concert Hall in Miami, Fl. and was the featured soloist in the community concerts of the Chapman Chamber Orchestra’s Concert Series in honor of Daniel Pearl; performing Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen .

Professionally, Michael has been performed with San Diego Opera Chorus for three seasons and has performed with the company in roles of: The Messenger in Verdi’s La Traviata , Footman and Waiter in Strauss’ Der Rosnkavalier , and Sargent in this season’s production of Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia . He has also appeared regularly with Bach Collegium San Diego and won critical acclaim for his “defiant” portrayal of Christus in Bach’s Johannespassion . A student of the concert form as well, he has been a regular soloist with many orchestras around Southern California, most recently with La Jolla Symphony performing Adam’s The Wound-Dresser. During the summer of 2011 Michael made his international debut with Tuscia Operafestival in Viterbo, Italy performing Marcello in Puccini’s La Boheme , and il Conte in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro .
