Biography
American soprano Rebecca Patrick Flaherty has recently garnered praise for her silky legato and beautiful tone in the role of Lola Markham in Douglas Moore’s Gallantry, and as the Countess in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Her upcoming engagements include performing the role of Rosalinde with Operafestival di Roma’s 2010 production of Die Fledermaus in July, and participating in Opera Tampa’s summer program this August.

Rebecca was one of twelve singers chosen to participate in Sherrill Milnes’s weeklong Opera as Drama training program in New York, where she worked with Fabrizio Melano, Joan Dornemann, Daniel Gettinger, and Sherrill Milnes himself. Other highlights worth mentioning: Singing with Kallen Esperian at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, traveling to Austin and Memphis to sing the soprano role in Messiah, performing sacred solo repertoire in Vienna, Salzburg, Prague, and the National Cathedral in Washington, D. C., and singing in the chorus of Carmen with Opera Columbus.

Rebecca is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and received her training from Oberlin Conservatory, The Cleveland Institute of Music, and Georgia Southern University. She resides in Savannah, Georgia with her husband and two children.
