As our tagline says... Vancouver Concert Opera Society ("VanCOCO") is "all about the music". We aim to offer unique in-concert operatic experiences to our audiences, focussing solely on the beauty of the music.

Founded in September 2010, VanCOCO is an organization aimed at creating performance opportunities for Operatic Professionals (established and emerging) from Canada and abroad who are interested in working in a co-operative environment.

Our goal is to bring together teams of creative minds and voices to produce events that will elevate and challenge each individual to bring the highest standard of musical excellence to the concert stage. To assist in achieving these standards we invite seasoned industry professionals (i.e. Conductors and Repetiteurs) on a guest basis to participate in the preparation and execution of our concerts.

2011 was a busy year for VanCOCO! Our unprecedented debut of Bizet's Carmen in January garnered spectacular audience reaction and an extremely favourable review in Opera Canada magazine, so much so, that we mounted a reprise performance of the same production the following May in both Vancouver and Victoria. In September we stepped out onto the Fringe stage with a staged production of Bernstein's one-act opera, Trouble In Tahiti. This was the first opera presented at the Vancouver International Fringe Festival in over 10 years!

As our audiences will attest, VanCOCO has proven to be a welcomed addition to Vancouver's lush musical landscape and in an effort to plant firm roots in the community we are proud to announce that, as of November 2011, we officially became a "Society" and are working towards obtaining our charitable status.

We are happy to announce that 2012 will feature another new concert production of Verdi's Rigoletto. Our talented cast features singers from Toronto as well as local talent. We hope you will come see and hear for yourself!
