Biography

The first Waterlights International Festival will take place in beautiful and historic Zurich, Switzerland from July 17-28, 2012. The festival brings together aspiring and professional artists of diverse musical and cultural backgrounds to experience and engage in a unique, rewarding, fun, and memorable take on chamber music. Co-founded and co-directed by composer Huang Ruo, flutist Eveline Kuhn, cellist Arash Amini, and bassoonist Shelley Monroe Huang, Waterlights International Festival immerses its students in coachings and rehearsals of chamber music and composition, with the option to explore several music and cultural exchange classes, as well as meditation and Tai chi. During the festival, instrumentalists and vocalists will also perform in concerts and composers will have their pieces premiered. Students will also attend the faculty concert. Waterlights International Festival- Zurich will take place each summer and beginning in 2013, Waterlights International Festival will also take place each year in China. Waterlights International Festival's first annual Gala Concert took place in New York City on January 26, 2012. Faculty members for the 2012 Waterlights International Festival- Zurich will consist of its four co-founders and co-directors plus pianist Heather Conner.
