Biography
Hojean Yoo has been recognized as one of most remarkable musician who enjoys performing as a soloist and chamber musician. As an active soloist, Ms. Yoo won top prizes at the several national competitions in South Korea, at Music Education News Concours, Busan Music Competition, and Seoul High Schools Chamber Music Competition. Ms. Yoo was also selected as a semi-finalist in Berlin International Competition in Seoul, 2010, the Schmidbauer International competition and the Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria. She also regularly appears on recital series as a Young Artist of Kumho Art Hall Foundation in South Korea. She has performed with Euroasia Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonia, Seoul National University Philharmonic, and Seoul National University String Chamber orchestra, among others. Also she has collaborated and performed together with well-known artist as Pamela Frank, James Dunham, Amit Peled, and Paul Coletti. A dedicated passionate orchestral and chamber musician, Hojean is a member of Ardor Piano Trio. Also She served as member of Huntingtin Quartet and worked with world famous musicians like Philip Setzer, Daniel Phillip, Mark Steinberg, Laurence Lesser, Kim Kashkasian, and Anni Kavafian. Hojean has been broadcast on Korean Radio, and served as an artist of La Jolla Music Festival, Schumann Festival Concert(Seoul), and Seoul Spring Festival-fringe Festival. Originally born in South Korea, Hojean commenced studies in Seoul at the age of 8. She graduated from Yewon Art School, Seoul Art High School and worked toward a Bachelor’s degree at Seoul National University with Professor Kyung Sun Lee. She holds Master’s Degree from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and Graduate Diploma from New England Conservatory with Professor Soovin Kim.
