(1838-1875). French composer. Bizet entered the Paris Conservatory in 1848 at the age of 10. During his studies there he was befriended by composer Charles Gounod, with whom he worked on several theatrical projects, and whose influence is evident in Bizet's early works, especially his Symphony in C major.
