César Franck, Composer
(1822 - 1890). A Belgian composer and keyboardist, he influenced an entire generation of French composers through his organ classes at the Paris Conservatory. While he was not greatly prolific in composition, his Symphony in D minor, the symphonic poem "Les Eolides" (The Breezes), the Violin Sonata, and his three Organ Chorales are all important works.
