Jia Ran was born in China and began studying piano at the age of three, making her solo début in 1995. At the age of 15, Jia went to study with Gary Graffman at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and made her début at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York. In 2008, Jia made her European recital début at the Klavierfestival Ruhr, performing two Schubert sonatas.
