Today is the 150th birthday of the iconic painter Wassily Kandinsky, an artist beloved of musicians worldwide. In his honour, we offer a sneak peek at our forthcoming recording of composer Geoffrey Gordon's ultra virtuoso double concerto for trumpet and piano, inspired by two of Kandinsky's most striking and colourful paintings (All Saints I and In Blue). The full work will be on a very exciting new CD from Signum Records in 2017, featuring soloists Simon Desbruslais (trumpet), Clare Hammond (piano) and conductor Kenneth Woods, with the English String Orchestra!
