The Plain Dealer's Donald Rosenberg offers accolades to CIM President Joel Smirnoff (guest conductor), CIM faculty member Joan Kwuon (violin) and CityMusic Cleveland for last night's debut of their series: "A Holiday Sernade." After reading Mr. Rosenberg's glowing remarks on the concert, you'll be glad to learn that the series runs through Sunday, Dec. 11th, so there's still time to catch a performance! Renowned Greek pop singer George Dalaras is to perform a benefit concert in New York. Featuring new music by Christos Hatzis, Dalaras will be joined in performance with chamber orchestra CityMusic Cleveland and Greek conductor Alexandre Myrat at Avery Fisher Hall on November 12. The programme titled “A Celebration of America’s Hellenic Community” will feature the premiere performance of Hatzis’ new work Credo, written especially for Dalaras and this event, as well as his Greek dance-inspired oboe concerto Telluric Dances performed by soloist Suzanne Lemieux. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, Cultural and Education Center of Port Washington, NY.
