Biography James HancockJames was born in Melbourne. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts he was a Victoria State Opera Young Artist and was awarded the Opera Foundation Australia German Operatic Award (which gave him a contract at Oper Köln in the Opera Studio), Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship, Tait Memorial Trust Scholarship, Australian Opera Auditions Committee Scholarship, Australian Musical Foundation London grant: American Institute of Musical Studies Scholarship and a Bayreuth Bursary. The Pinnacle Ensemble was founded as Queen Mary’s Consort in 2006 by its director Michael Waldron for a concert in Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge. Since its creation, the group has given concerts across the UK (most recently in Salisbury, Winchester and Portsmouth Cathedrals), as well as numerous venues across Cambridge and London. The Choir established itself as one of the finest and most diverse choral groups in Cambridge. Now based in London and named after the building in which the new group was formed, the group exists as a professional chamber choir with repertoire ranging from Bach and Purcell, to contemporary works by Lukaszewski, MacMillan, Pärt and Tavener.
