Not long after he first arrived in Memphis, Jason D. Williams made this appearance at the Overton Park Shell in a 1988 event called the "Second Annual All Day Do Da." He often tried to knock pianos off their legs or push them off of stages in those days and he did not try too hard to dispel the rumor that he was Jerry Lee Lewis' long lost progeny. He stayed in Memphis and has since developed a national reputation as a performer and recording artist. This historic Memphis amphitheater was fully renovated in 2008 thanks to a generous grant from the Mortimer Levitt Foundation and the renamed Levitt Shell now sponsors 50 free concerts every year devoted to developing a shared sense of community through the performing arts.
