Ron Easley (here playing bass and going by the name of "Durand") was a fan of singer/guitarist Sam Baird and drummer Gaius "Ringo" Farnham when they played in the now-defunct Sunflower Club in Memphis in the early 80s and later asked them to help him form The Country Rockers. The band released two albums and toured Europe while "Ringo" found celebrity as a guest on the Jon Stewart show. This was during the same period when Easley began his long collaboration of recordings and performances with Alex Chilton. This performance was part of the "Memphis Medicine Show", a series of live radio broadcasts over WEVL-FM from the stage of the Overton Park Shell for two years in the late '80s. The historic amphitheater was fully renovated in 2008 thanks to a generous grant from the Mortimer Levitt Foundation and the renamed Levitt Shell now sponsors 50 free concerts every year devoted to developing community through the performing arts.
