Author: State Theatre New Jersey Celebrate Black History Month with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who have been singing the story of South Africa for nearly 60 years. Their music, born in the mines of 19th-century South Africa, has become celebrated across the globe through the group’s performances with Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder, and on Broadway, film soundtracks, and their own Grammy Award®-winning albums. As South Africa’s cultural emissaries at home and around the globe, they travel the world over, spreading the message of peace, love, and harmony. Their a cappella music, rooted in the traditional Zulu musical style isicathamiya, features stunning vocal harmonies and floating melodies, accompanied by playful choreography.
