Seeded by newtrinitybaroque on 6 Nov 2020
Author: New Trinity Baroque
"Music for a While" is probably Henry Purcell's most known song. It was composed in 1692 for a play "Oedipus", Z. 583, on the text by John Dryden and Nathan Lee. This performance features Serbian mezzo-soprano Dragana Popovic, with New Trinity Baroque's Srdjan Stanic on a viol and Predrag Gosta on a harpsichord. It comes from the concert presented in September 2019 at the City Hall in Novi Sad, during the Novi Sad Chamber Music Festival. LYRICS: Music for a while Shall all your cares beguile: Wond'ring how your pains were eas'd And disdaining to be pleas'd. Till Alecto free the dead From their eternal bands, Till the snakes drop from her head, And the whip from out her hands. Thank you for visiting our channel.
