The virtual concert event will feature Tchaikovsky’s Serenade in C Major and Reno Phil concertmaster, Ruth Lenz, as a featured soloist. Considered one of Tchaikovsky’s best works, the composer himself described Serenade for Strings as a “piece from the heart.” Opening with an homage to Mozart, it is a graceful and poised composition with a memorable waltz melody that has been used in a variety of movies and ballets. The program also includes Chevalier de Saint-Georges’s Violin Concerto No. 2, a showcase for violinist Ruth Lenz.
