MAHLER FOR THE CHILDREN OF AIDS, a benefit concert featuring Gustav Mahler's monumental Third Symphony, was held 8pm, Monday January 12, 2009 in Isaac Stern Auditorium/ Perelman Family Stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert has raised over $177,000 so far and a great deal of public consciousness for global pediatric AIDS and the prevention-of-mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. The concert was presented under the fiscal sponsorship of Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB) which provides humanitarian services and treatment for HIV/AIDS in many countries around the world. The concert brought together many of the world's finest orchestral musicians.
