Misty Moonlight Waltz composed by Mark O'Connor Mark O'Connor - Violin Yo-Yo Ma - Cello Edgar Meyer - Double Bass Filmed at Lincoln Center in New York City, NY for 'Great Performances at Lincoln Center' - 2000. 'Misty Moonlight Waltz' is a tune Mark composed at the age of 16 and played in many competitions. Mark recorded it with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer on his Grammy winning Appalachian Journey album in a version that is as lilting and lyrical as the day it was first performed. "On July 21, 2,000, I was at Yo-Yo Ma's house. We had been rehearsing for several days, for our upcoming Appalachian Journey recording. Edgar Meyer and I had brought an equal number of composition each of us had written for the recording. At some point, Yo-Yo asked us if we would be willing to perform my "Misty Moonlight Waltz" over the phone for someone special, someone's birthday... We had been practicing this piece along with many other pieces, and it was sounding great - magnificent cello playing on
