This weekend, pianist Daniil Trifonov (a student of CIM's Sergei Babayan) made his New York Philharmonic. CIM President Joel Smirnoff was in the audience, enjoying the music and undoubltly beaming with pride over our brilliant young artist who "clearly had chemistry" with the orchestra and conductor, as confirmed by Vivien Schweitzer of The New York Times. Reporter Tony Sauro shares some history and insights on the performing, teaching and globe-trotting life of CIM's Antonio Pompa-Baldi, piano, who is playing a pair of concerts with the Stockton Symphony in California this week. The Italian-born pianist, Sauro writes, "is living proof that hard work and initiative can pay off" -- something Pompa-Baldi says is more true in the U.S. than elsewhere in the world.
